Sounding Pole
Installation for Newtown Castle, Ballyvaughn, Co. Clare, Ireland 2007

In a small tower castle on the southern end of Galway Bay, I installed a series of speakers, two in each of the four rooms that were configured to create a linear, bidirectional projection of sound through the entire structure. The variations of material and shape of each room caused the sounds to behave differently in each chamber as they slid (panned) up and down the “pole.”
